Our Students, from time to time, thank us by sharing their yoga experiences and benefit. We'd like to share a few of their stories with you.

Yoga on the Beach
I took my first Beach Yoga class last week and the beauty of the setting enhanced my practice in ways that delighted the senses- from the sounds if the waves and the birds, the warmth of the sun and soft sand, to the sighting of a blue heron swooping overhead. Beach Yoga is a summer experience not to be missed!

Yoga Nidra CD
I have listened to the CD and hope to make it part of my daily routine. It helped me relax with my shingles and gave me strength to do a shopping day out which I haven't felt up to. I think it needs to be marketed as 'alternative medicine' either at doctor's offices or clinics and pain management facilities. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Girl Scouts Yoga
I just wanted to thank you again for the yoga workshops you provided to the girls on our overnight! And I wanted to take a moment to share a phone call I just got from one of the girls. She is applying for a Destination – a Girl Scout sponsored travel program that works to give older girls travel opportunities. She called with some questions about the application and I asked her which Destination she was applying for. She is applying for an outdoor adventure one, but then she paused and said that what she really wanted to do was a yoga destination where all they do is yoga! She said she had so much fun trying yoga at the overnight and she has been practicing at home. She said that what she really wants is to be able to do yoga for a week straight! You both really inspired them! Thank you again for your time and we would love to have you back next year!

Breast Cancer Survivor
After a bilateral mastectomy for breast cancer, I was looking for help to get back to feeling like a healthy, normal person again. I knew nothing about yoga and, at 60 years old, thought it might be too difficult for my body. Also, I was concerned that it might be too “cult-like” for me. I finally decided to try yoga and found the Yoga Connection. The classes are gentle enough for older people but still provide challenges to help all the students grow within their own capabilities. There are many people my age and older, including several who have also had breast cancer.
I felt a little strange during the first few classes -- the other people seemed to know what to do, and I had to learn new ways to move my body. I was not very good at it at first, but after three or four times I became comfortable with the classes. And I learned the most important lesson: where I am is where I am supposed to be. After two years, I have made great progress in improving flexibility and balance, and I feel physically strong. More important, I have found a new kind of mental relaxation that carries over into my day-to-day life.
Through yoga I have regained my self-confidence, learned to enjoy my body as it is, and am discovering how to live a contented life. Yoga has given me the gift of rebirth in both body and mind.
The teachers at the Yoga Connection are superb. Each has a different approach, and all are compassionate and sensitive to our individual needs. They make a special effort to get to know us and make us feel at home. I am most grateful to them for helping me to find the peace and well-being that has changed my life.
With many thanks to you and all the wonderful people at the Yoga Connection,

General Thanks . . .
I really dislike exercise but Yoga class became the oasis for one consistent
form of exertion in my life. The are not many things one can begin at the age of
forty-five and still be doing it at eighty one.
I feel I have been very fortunate in having had many excellent instructors over
those years and the YogaConnection has been the place I have found them in the
last ten years.

Over the past year Yoga has been a wonderful help to me as I made a huge
transition from being a full time employee (over 42 years) to a very happy
retiree. Yoga practice really keeps me centered and gives me an over all calm. It
really helps me to focus and stay in the Present. It has surely been a gift.
